If you haven't seen it yet, look for the ad on a lower leg wrap called "Beactive" (or similar to that as 2 versions are out). It wraps your calf just below your knee and presses a 'button' into your sciatica nerve and silents the pain. Works fast, really amazing.

Some of these articles are amazing. My husband and I jogged for years but I can't now because of a bad injury to my knee. I can walk which I try to do 4 miles a day(5 days a week). Am returning to it after being ill. Swimming is my best ex that helps me the most but so far can't find a pool that is warm enough. We are hoping to put one in but that is too costly right now. I need to lose weight but don't focus on that as it stresses me too much. I tried indoor ex (dvds) but end up with sciatica so bad I can't walk. What are some ex to do that will help me!?

I’ve worked out all of my adult life , after 5 children at age 33 began running, then aerobics , Pilates and yoga, back to gym for the rest of my years until at age 78 began bad sciatica, after 1 and hakf years had lumbar surgery... a mistake. Now can not work out , pain upon standing very long or walking much. Now at 80* prefer to exercise again , family dr says go ahead as much as possible . Used to be avid golfer and danced weekly ... I’m healthy except my lower back( sciatica) which now goes down my leg and into foot. Any ideas for me . My age is 80 but my mind and most of my. Oft is healthy ! Carmen

Robert, how old are you? I worked out 5 days a week for roughly 20 years. I never used HEAVY WEIGHTS. I blew a shoulder muscle, I don't know how or why @ age 62 or 3. The doctor wanted to operate, I refused to be cut. 2 years later I returned to the doctor he was amazed @ the healing that had occured in the shoulder, gave permission to return to the gym. Which I did. In discussion with the PT he said nothing heavier than "BODY WEIGHT". Reason, age & fact that I had been out of the gym for 2 years. About 3 months down the line, blew the same shoulder, can't gym anymore, cannot swim properly. For months I moped, my car was in for repair, I walked to the grocery store & back, total I guess about between 8 & 10 Km (5 & 6 miles) I now do that walk 3 times a week. Not as fulfilling as the gym, I'm still fitter than most my age 77 in a month

Lighten up Francis, making working out a priority is one thing but denying oneself the joy of living life and taking in a game or some humorous movie is counter productive. Stress is the #1 killer so taking time to laugh or lose yourself in a good game does the mind some good as well. The key is to eat well, think well and move well. I’m with you on the game shows and reality TV but everything should be done in moderation.

I am less interested in a long life than I am in living rather than just existing while I am alive. There is something merciful about belly fat shortening life expectancy because the prison of an obese body cannot allow life to be worth living. Belly fat is a squalor you cannot get away from the way you can take a day away from the squalor of a slum neighborhood. It makes your body into a slum and humiliates you by showing the world the definition of yourself a beer belly makes you.
That is why we shouldn't dismiss going all the way to a fitness model body because it is a thing of beauty we can have for the modest price of an uncompromising workout schedule we choose not to tolerate anyone disrupting. The obesogenic culture of commercial junk food and sitting before a television show watching such junk culture as game shows and sports is a physically violent attack which disfigures the body by installing belly fat, which is as disgusting as any physical mutilation, and needs to be treated as such.
I have an advance directive which refuses any life-saving medical treatment which threatens to cause body fat to grow because I would rather be dead than have a beer belly and all the ugly culture it represents. That is why I workout.
