<p><em>Today’s blog is republished from my friends at TheAlternativeDaily, a leading publisher of daily alternative health tips that I personally read every day.</em></p>
<p>By Susan Patterson, <a href="http://www.thealternativedaily.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TheAlternativeDaily.com</a></p>
<p>Coconut oil has been gaining a lot of popularity in the fast growing community of <strong>health conscious people</strong>. People in Asia and the Pacific Rim have used coconut products for thousands of years. They drank the milk, ate the flesh, turned the tree sap into sweet syrup, and weaved baskets with the leaves of coconut trees. In the 1950s, coconut oil, which you receive when you press the meat of the coconut, could be found in every household.</p>
<p>With the low-fat craze that swept through the Western world, coconut oil gave way to margarine and vegetable oils. The “experts” demonized saturated fats. People touted highly processed vegetable oils as heart-healthy, but only in very small amounts.</p>
<p>Fortunately, coconut oil is seeing a comeback of epic proportions. From slathering your baby’s bottom to cooking up some fabulous-tasting eggs, <strong>coconut oil is making its way to the top of the charts</strong>. How about putting some coconut oil into your morning cup of coffee?</p>
<p>Of course, those who have been using coconut oil for years never truly believed the lipid hypothesis that said saturated fat was bad for us. More and more evidence is being uncovered to say just the opposite.</p>
<p>What is coconut oil?<strong><br />
<a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_CoconutOil.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24314 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_CoconutOil.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_CoconutOil.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_CoconutOil-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><br />
</strong></p>
<p>Coconut oil is a medium-chain fatty acid with a high saturation level. The main fats in coconut oil are caprylic acid, lauric acid and capric acid. Most fats take much more effort from the body to be digested (26 steps), whereas <strong>coconut oil is digested much easier</strong> (3 steps). Because it is a medium-chain fatty acid, coconut oil is processed by the liver, so it is converted into energy rather than stored as fat.</p>
<p>Coconut oil is a solid at room temperatures and it has an amazing shelf life due its saturation. It is also an ideal oil to cook with because medium-chain fatty acids are <strong>much more stable</strong> and will not break down during cooking.</p>
<p>Healthy saturated fat is not only good for us, but <strong>essential for numerous bodily functions</strong>. Did you know that more than half your brain is made up of saturated fat? Coconut oil is described as one of the healthiest saturated fats on the earth.</p>
<p>Coconuts are revered by people all over the world for their <strong>amazing medical and nutritional properties</strong>. They have been used for ages by diverse cultures and races, all of whom respect the magnificent qualities of this tree-growing nut. Fortunately, the Western world is quickly catching on. Now there are even numerous studies supporting some of the health claims that so many of us already know to be true.</p>
<p>Medicinal uses for coconut</p>
<p><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_Medicine.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24315 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_Medicine.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_Medicine.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_Medicine-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>In traditional medicine, <strong>people use coconut for a wide number of health problems</strong>. These include kidney stones, nausea, rash, scurvy, infections, wounds, asthma, colds, constipation, cough, earaches, fevers, jaundice, kidney stones, lice and ulcers, to name a few.</p>
<p>Modern medicine is finally coming alongside traditional medicine and echoing the <strong>amazing health benefits of coconut</strong>. Published studies in a number of prominent health journals note the benefits of various forms of coconut.</p>
<p>Several studies have confirmed that <strong>coconut oil has the ability to increase the good cholesterol HDL</strong>. In other studies, women and men were fed a diet containing coconut oil and butter. Researchers found that coconut oil increased energy in study participants and was able to help with weight maintenance or weight loss.</p>
<p>What is <strong>even more amazing are the results of a study of women with stage III and stage IV breast cancer</strong>. The 60 women were fed a diet containing virgin coconut oil and experienced an overall improved quality of life. Coconut oil also reduced the side effects of chemotherapy.</p>
<h3><strong>Other benefits of coconut oil</strong></h3>
<p>As you can see, saturated fat isn’t necessarily the bad guy, when it is from a good source like coconut oil. The <strong>lauric acid in coconut oil can actually prevent high blood pressure</strong>. Below, find a list of other proven health benefits of coconut oil which will make you want to run to the store and stock up on this amazing fat.</p>
<p><strong>Proven treatment of Alzheimer’s disease</strong></p>
<p>The brain produces its own insulin in healthy people. In people with Alzheimer’s disease, this function is limited or stopped. The ketones produced through <strong>coconut oil consumption increase energy</strong> for people with Alzheimer’s and can help improve brain function.</p>
<p><strong>Reduces inflammation markers</strong></p>
<p>A study conducted in India found that the antioxidants in coconut oil were able to <strong>reduce inflammation</strong> in study participants when taken regularly. Researchers have also found coconut oil to be of great value to people with arthritis.</p>
<p><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24316 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_2.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_2.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties</strong></p>
<p>It is the lauric acid present in coconut oil that has been credited with <strong>helping treat parasites, like candida</strong>. It is necessary to use coconut oil on a daily basis and usually several times a day.</p>
<p><strong>Improves endurance</strong></p>
<p>The liver processes coconut oil, so it provides a quick <strong>boost of energy and endurance</strong>. This makes it extremely valuable for athletes, especially those needing a lot of energy for longer workouts.</p>
<p><strong>Helps slow down aging process</strong></p>
<p>The antioxidants in coconut oil can slow the aging process, as stress on the liver is decreased and detoxification is increased.</p>
<p><strong>Prevents osteoporosis</strong></p>
<p>The antioxidants in coconut oil fight free radicals and reduce oxidative stress, both of which count as the main culprits for osteoporosis. Additionally, <strong>coconut oil increases calcium absorption</strong>. Researchers have found that bone loss due to osteoporosis decreases in patients who take coconut oil regularly.</p>
<p><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_3.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24317 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_3.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_3.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/CoconutOil_Coffee_3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<h3><strong>Coconut in coffee</strong></h3>
<p>Replacing processed coffee creamers with organic coconut oil is a smart move. Although it may sound strange, the result is actually quite delicious and highly nutritious. <strong>The combination of caffeine and saturated fat gives the body a lasting energy boost</strong>.</p>
<p>Prepare a tropical twisted coffee drink by brewing a high-quality organic cup of coffee and place it in a blender. Add in one tablespoon of organic coconut oil, blend and enjoy.</p>
<p>The resulting coffee drink is frothy and rich, with a wonderfully smooth taste that is very satisfying. If you like your coffee sweetened, add one teaspoon of coconut crystals.</p>
<p>Add coconut oil to your coffee for a great way to supercharge. Give your body a burst of energy to make it through the day, not to mention all of the other amazing health benefits of coconut!</p>
<p>Supercharging your morning can be as simple as adding coconut oil to your coffee—and believe it or not, a unique form of chocolate can regulate blood sugar levels as well as your appetite.</p>

<p>Today’s blog is republished from my friends at TheAlternativeDaily, a leading publisher of daily alternative health tips that I personally read every day…</p>
<p>By Katherine Marko, <a href="http://www.thealternativedaily.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TheAlternativeDaily.com</a></p>
<p>Even the best <strong>“high quality” dark roasts</strong> can make an acidic cup of coffee, though cheaper blends are notorious for being overly acidic. And acid can be hard on a sensitive stomach, particularly if you enjoy more than one cup of coffee a day. So how does baking soda improve an acidic cup of Joe?</p>
<h2><strong>Even the best coffee beans produce acid</strong></h2>
<p>Beyond using it as a natural cleaning agent to remove stains for your coffee pot, some believe that baking soda can actually<strong> improve the taste of coffee</strong>. It’s no secret that coffee can be a tad acidic. But for many, giving up their morning cup of coffee is not an option. And truthfully, with science continuing to study coffee and the many benefits it provides, it’s easy to<a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/use-blackstrap-molasses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> see why coffee lovers would never want to give up their morning cup of brew</a>. Yet, if drinking coffee is contributing to excess stomach acid and causing you digestive upset, then you’re probably thinking you’d be better off without. Think again.</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/what-is-it-about-coffee" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Harvard Health</a>, coffee drinking is associated with a <em>lower risk of depression among women, a lower risk of fatal prostate cancer among men, and a lower risk of stroke among both men and women</em>. Human and animal studies show some protection against Alzheimer’s disease and a lower risk for some cancers like estrogen-negative breast cancer.</p>
<h2><strong>Coffee is fairly acidic on a pH scale<br />
</strong></h2>
<p><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24100 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-2.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-2.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Acidity is something that’s measured on the pH scale, which uses 7.0 as an indicator of neutrality. So, numbers under seven as are naturally more acidic than numbers above seven. For instance, according to <a href="https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/references/acids-bases-the-ph-scale" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Science Buddies</a>, battery acid is zero. Clearly, that’s highly acidic. Lemon juice registers at about two, and black coffee registers at a pH of about five. But rather than kicking your “acidic” coffee habit — and there are <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/coffee-ground-and-turmeric-scrub/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">clearly good reasons to keep drinking coffee</a> — why not neutralize the acid in your brew?</p>
<h2><strong>Helps neutralize an acidic cup of coffee</strong></h2>
<p>In water, baking soda is mildly alkaline and can be <strong>used to neutralize acid</strong>. That’s why, when it dissolves in water, it works well as a natural antacid remedy. Its alkalinity is also why it makes a great deodorizer — by <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/coffee-ground-and-turmeric-scrub/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">countering slightly acidic scent molecules</a>. On the pH scale baking soda registers as a nine.</p>
<p>That means by simply adding a little baking soda to your coffee you could <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/add-coconut-oil-honey-and-cinnamon-to-coffee/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">neutralize the acid to avoid stomach upset</a>. There’s two way you can do that. You can <em>add about a quarter teaspoon to your coffee beans for a pot of coffee</em>, or you can add just a pinch <strong>(small pinch) to your cup of coffee</strong>.</p>
<h2><strong>Helps acid reflux or GERD</strong></h2>
<div class="mceTemp"></div>
<p><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-3.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24099 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-3.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-3.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee exacerbate gastroesophageal reflux according to a German <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7918922/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">study</a>. However, coffee creates more reflux than simply caffeine added to water. This suggests that other components of coffee contribute to acid reflux. A <strong>small pinch of baking soda</strong> can help counteract acid reflux.</p>
<h2><strong>May help relieve gout</strong></h2>
<p>Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis, according to the <a href="https://www.arthritis.org/diseases/gout" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Arthritis Foundation</a>. It develops in some people who have high levels of uric acid in the blood. The acid can form painful needle-like crystals in a joint and cause severe episodes of pain, tenderness, redness, warmth and swelling.</p>
<p>Due to baking soda’s<strong> pH neutralizing effects,</strong> it may help lower uric acid levels. According to <a href="https://www.goutdiet.org/sodium-bicarbonate-and-coffee-for-gout.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GoutDiet.org</a> baking soda introduced to the blood alkalinizes it, causing the uric acid structures to break up. Then, they can easily filter out the kidneys and expel through the urine. Add a pinch to your coffee or more as needed.</p>
<h2><strong>If you suffer from ulcers, baking soda can help</strong></h2>
<p>Since baking soda <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/3-ways-drink-baking-soda-better-health/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">neutralizes stomach acid</a>, it can help make coffee drinking more bearable if you suffer from a stomach ulcer. Add a quarter to a half teaspoon to your coffee grounds.</p>
<h2><strong>Let’s break down baking soda</strong></h2>
<p><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-4.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-24098 aligncenter" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-4.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-4.jpg 600w, https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/4BenefitsBakingSoda_Coffee-4-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>While most of us often keep a box baking soda in the house for baking, as a deodorizer for the fridge, or as a <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/baking-soda-powder-uses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">natural cleaning alternative</a> (and now for neutralizing acidic coffee), some still aren’t sure what exactly baking soda is. So, let’s break it down.</p>
<p>Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/reasons-to-try-coffee-enemas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">chemical salt that occurs naturally as the mineral nahcolite</a>. This is a soft, colorless or white carbonate mineral. Nahcolite was first described in 1928 when it was found in a lava tunnel at Mount Vesuvius, Italy. <a href="https://www.mindat.org/min-2831.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NaHCO3</a>, as it’s known chemically, contains sodium (NA), hydrogen (H) and carbonate (CO).</p>
<h3><strong>Baking soda in North America</strong></h3>
<p>So, where does America get its baking soda from? Well, <strong>most baking soda in the U.S.</strong> comes from Green River, Wyoming. According to <a href="https://www.armandhammer.com/en-ca/faq/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Arm &amp; Hammer</a>, the baking soda from Green River is mined from trona ore. Trona deposits were molded over four million years ago after the evaporation of great salt lakes in Wyoming. Trona also comes from Kenya, Egypt, Venezuela and the deserts of Central Asia. After it’s mined, it’s heated to make soda ash, which is then dissolved in water. When carbon dioxide <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/coconut-oil-in-your-morning-coffee-absolutely/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">bubbles under pressure</a> through the solution, sodium bicarbonate is formed.</p>
<h3><strong>Side effects of baking soda</strong></h3>
<p>Now that you know all about baking soda, let’s talk about how to use it properly. Although larger quantities of baking soda have been used to <strong>remedy indigestion</strong>, in much the same way antacids are used, you can still go overboard and risk side effects. Drinking baking soda is like drinking salt water. It’s extremely high in sodium and will <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/coffee-alternative-great-digestion-heartburn-arthritis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">raise your blood pressure</a>. And too much sodium is linked to kidney and heart issues in healthy people.</p>
<p>And of course, too much baking soda in your coffee can leave you with a less than tasty cup that leaves you with a soapy taste in your mouth. Generally, to reduce the acidic nature of coffee, <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/coffee-alternative-great-digestion-heartburn-arthritis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">just a small pinch is all you need</a>. Enjoy!</p>

<p>Today’s blog is republished from my friends at TheAlternativeDaily, a leading publisher of daily alternative health tips that I personally read every day…</p>
<p>By Ryan Mallett-Outtrim, <a href="http://www.thealternativedaily.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TheAlternativeDaily.com</a></p>
<p>Lemon water is delicious and healthy. It’s an easy way to boost your intake of <strong>vitamin C,</strong> which can help lower <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/foods-good-for-high-blood-pressure" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">blood pressure</a> and reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. It can also improve your <a href="https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/86/4/1225/4649573" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">skin health</a> and support <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2581754/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">weight loss</a>, while aiding <a href="https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/20-natural-laxatives" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">digestion</a>. Plus, it can keep your breath fresh and lemony.</p>
<p>Oh, and did we mention it tastes pretty yummy?</p>
<p>Unfortunately, like everything in life, it’s possible to have too much <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/take-this-16-day-lemon-challenge-for-great-skin-weight-loss-and-more/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">lemon water</a>. In excess, lemon water can have some <strong>surprisingly worrying impacts on your health</strong>. While a cup or two a day might not hurt, guzzling large amounts of lemon water can do more harm than good, and in the long term, snowball into <strong>serious health problems</strong>.</p>
<p>Bear in mind that there’s no set amount of lemon water that’s considered unsafe; we’re all different, and all have different tolerance levels. That said, here are <strong>six health issues</strong> that can arise from drinking too much lemon water. If you’re experiencing any of these, then it might be time to take it easy on the lemon water.</p>
<h2><strong>1. Lemon water can harm your tooth enamel</strong></h2>
<figure id="attachment_20965" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-20965" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Too-much-lemon-water-could-wear-down-tooth-enamel-e1595357393461.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-20965 size-full" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Too-much-lemon-water-could-wear-down-tooth-enamel-e1595357393461.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="342" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-20965" class="wp-caption-text">Too much lemon water could wear down tooth enamel.</figcaption></figure>
<p>We all know that sugary treats are bad for your teeth, but did you know lemons are also pretty rough on your <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/4-natural-ways-to-recalcify-and-re-enamel-teeth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">enamel</a>? Lemons are highly acidic, and the <a href="https://www.mouthhealthy.org/en/nutrition/food-tips/9-foods-that-damage-your-teeth" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">American Dental Association</a> warns their juice can <strong>erode your enamel</strong> if consumed in excess.</p>
<p>Signs of enamel damage include a yellowing of the teeth and a sensation of roughness. Run your tongue along your teeth; if they feel sand papery instead of pearly smooth, then you might have some <strong>enamel damage</strong>.</p>
<p>Another common sign of tooth problems is more obvious: <strong>pain or sensitivity.</strong> For example, if you feel a jolt of stabbing pain in your teeth whenever you drink something particularly hot or cold, then you might have a problem. In fact, if you experience any of the above, then it’s probably time to cut back on the lemon water and perhaps pay a visit to your dentist.</p>
<h2><strong>2. Lemon water can exacerbate cavities</strong></h2>
<figure id="attachment_20964" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-20964" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Too-much-of-a-good-thing-is-still-too-much-e1595357387445.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-20964 size-full" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Too-much-of-a-good-thing-is-still-too-much-e1595357387445.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="342" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-20964" class="wp-caption-text">Too much of a good thing is still too much.</figcaption></figure>
<p>Lemon water doesn’t just strip your teeth of their enamel; it can also <strong>exacerbate issues with cavities</strong>. Cavities are typically <a href="https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/how-sugar-destroys-teeth" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">caused by bacteria</a> that munch on sugar and excrete acid. Pure, natural lemon juice won’t do much to exacerbate cavities on its own. However, if you use a lemon concentrate or add a bit of sugar to your lemon water, then you’re creating the <strong>perfect environment in your mouth</strong> for the development of <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/7-ways-to-never-have-cavities/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">cavities</a>.</p>
<h2><strong>3. Lemon water can mess with your tummy</strong></h2>
<figure id="attachment_20963" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-20963" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Lemon-can-exasperate-stomach-problems-e1595357401862.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-20963 size-full" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Lemon-can-exasperate-stomach-problems-e1595357401862.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="342" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-20963" class="wp-caption-text">Lemon can exasperate stomach problems.</figcaption></figure>
<p>For some people, lemon water can be quite soothing, but not everyone. We’re all unique, and our stomachs can have moods of their own. For some people, lemon water can put their stomachs in a seriously bad mood, <strong>causing pain and irritation</strong>. Anyone with a <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/sweet-potato-fries-with-spicy-yogurt-dip-for-stomach-ulcers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">stomach ulcer</a> should steer well away from lemon water, as it can <a href="https://www.livestrong.com/article/440686-benefits-side-effects-of-lemon-juice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">worsen the pain</a> and make you feel absolutely terrible.</p>
<p>Also, excessive consumption of acidic foods and beverages like lemon water has been linked to the development of gastroesophageal re-flux disorder. This is a <strong>gut condition</strong> that can lead to nausea, vomiting and heartburn.</p>
<h2><strong>4. Lemon rinds are gross</strong></h2>
<figure id="attachment_20962" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-20962" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Make-sure-to-clean-lemons-well-before-using-them-e1595357406248.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-20962 size-full" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Make-sure-to-clean-lemons-well-before-using-them-e1595357406248.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="342" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-20962" class="wp-caption-text">Make sure to clean lemons well before using them.</figcaption></figure>
<p>This is less of a problem with lemon water, and more of a concern with the <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/7-cool-ways-use-lemon-orange-peels/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">rinds</a> themselves. In 2007, <a href="http://www.pccc.edu/uploads/Xu/1x/Xu1xPvHvoXeYex8Gf1Uh0Q/JEH_Dec_07_with_Copyright.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">a study</a> published in the <em>Journal of Environmental Health</em> found evidence to suggest as much as <strong>70 percent</strong> of lemon rinds served in restaurants are <strong>contaminated </strong>with organisms like the notorious E. coli, which can make you extremely ill.</p>
<p>Regular consumption of lemon water with the rind submerged in the beverage can expose you to these contaminants, so be careful. If you regularly consume lemon water, ensure you either wash the rinds thoroughly or remove them entirely.</p>
<h2><strong>5. Lemon juice can give you migraines</strong></h2>
<figure id="attachment_20961" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-20961" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Lemon-juice-might-give-you-migraines-e1595357417618.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-20961 size-full" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Lemon-juice-might-give-you-migraines-e1595357417618.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="342" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-20961" class="wp-caption-text">Lemon juice might give you migraines.</figcaption></figure>
<p>This one certainly doesn’t apply to everyone, but lemon juice might give you one hell of a <strong>headache</strong>. A number of <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22732972/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">studies</a> have shown a clear link between citrus and <a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/6-healing-herbal-teas-for-migraine-relief/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">migraines</a>. It’s worth noting these results aren’t consistent, with some studies failing to find a clear link. Nonetheless, there’s enough evidence on the table to lead many doctors to <strong>advise migraine sufferers to avoid citrus</strong>, especially if they suspect fruits like lemon exacerbate their migraines. So if you likewise experience migraines from time to time, you may want to consider avoiding lemon water.</p>
<h2><strong>6. Lemon juice can make mouth ulcers worse</strong></h2>
<figure id="attachment_20960" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-20960" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Lemon-can-make-mouth-ulcers-worse-e1595357411772.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-20960 size-full" src="https://thenutritionwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Lemon-can-make-mouth-ulcers-worse-e1595357411772.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="342" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-20960" class="wp-caption-text">Lemon can make mouth ulcers worse.</figcaption></figure>
<p>Mouth ulcers (<a href="https://www.thealternativedaily.com/ancient-remedies-that-strengthen-body/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">canker sores</a>) are horrible. They <strong>hurt and make eating unpleasant</strong>. Due to their highly acidic content, lemons can make these ulcers even more painful, according to the <a href="https://www.mouthhealthy.org/en/nutrition/food-tips/9-foods-that-damage-your-teeth" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">American Dental Association</a>. So if you’re prone to mouth ulcers, then keep away from lemon juice.</p>

<p>And in 1953 Sir Edmund Hillary uncovered a new secret weapon—something never tried before by other climbers. It was a special all-natural healing tonic —that research showed could dramatically boost their level of fitness…and thus, increase their chances of finally reaching Everest’s summit.</p>
<p>What was in that Tonic? &#8230;Copious amounts of hot water with lemon to combat the acute effects of dehydration at altitude.</p>
